Montgomery
Eye Care is a privately owned, full-service optometric practice
and on-site ophthalmic dispensary. It is our intention to treat
each and every patient as we would treat members of our own
family.
We believe that if we treat each patient with the care,
consideration, and respect that we would like to have when we
are in need of professional care, we cannot go wrong.
We are confident that if you drop by our Montgomery Center
office, you will immediately feel at home amidst our family
pictures and memorabilia.
State of the art eye care equipment.
A Pachymeter: a device to
measure the thickness of the cornea. Now a part of routine care
for patients with a family history of or other risk factors for
glaucoma.
Retinal Thickness Analyzer by Talia
The RTA is a unique and innovative diagnostic instrument that is
used to assess the health of the retina (tissue in the back of
your eye that changes light into electrical impulses) and optic
nerve (transmits the electrical impulses to the visual cortex in
the brain).
The RTA scans the interior of your eye with a specially designed
laser. The measurements taken by the RTA are analyzed by a
computer and used to create a map of your retina and optic
nerve.
The maps of the retina and optic nerve allow detection of the
damage caused by diseases affecting the retina and optic nerve
at much earlier stages. It also allows much greater precision
when tracking the progression of the retinal & optic nerve
diseases.
Three diseases that affect a growing number of people as we age
are Glaucoma, Diabetes and Macular Degeneration. Each of these
diseases is capable of causing life changing vision loss;
fortunately they also respond to treatment.
Glaucoma is a disease that can cause thinning of the retina
and/or loss of the optic nerve fiber. The loss of the nerve
fiber layer produces defects in your peripheral (side) vision
during the early stages of the disease. If the Glaucoma remains
untreated, it may progress to total vision loss. The RTA helps
Dr. Boname to detect Glaucoma earlier than conventional testing.
Diabetic Retinopathy is also a major cause of blindness and
afflicts individuals with both Type I and Type II diabetes.
Diabetic Retinopathy is characterized by retinal edema, which is
mapped by the RTA, allowing your doctor to detect and track the
progression and severity of the disease.
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) is a disease that
affects your central vision. It can limit your ability to read,
drive or perform other daily activities that require fine
vision. The RTA will assist Dr. Boname in diagnosing and
tracking ARMD so that treatment may be initiated before
significant irreversible damage has occurred. |
